Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA) here on Friday handed over two truckloads of medicines worth Rs 20 million to Punjab government for flood victims. Provincial Minister for Education and Excise Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman received the medicines in a ceremony held here at Schazoo Laboratory.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA) Mian Asad Shuja-ur-Rehman and Co-Chairman pricing Committee Khawaja Shahzeb Akram said that pharmaceutical industry has fulfilled its commitment of donating medicines worth Rs 100 million for the flood victims.
They said that the industry would co-operate with the government at all levels for ensuring availability of medicines and would continue this mission till complete rehabilitation of the flood-hit people. While giving details of donations of medicines by pharmaceutical industry, Asad Shuja-ur-Rehman said the PPMA has handed-over medicines worth Rs 30 million to Punjab government.
He added that with the donation of two more truckloads, the value of medicines donated to Punjab government would reach Rs 50 million. The PPMA has also donated medicines worth about Rs 50 million to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, Federal Government, Pakistan Army and different NGOs, he maintained. Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman appreciated the contribution by PPMA and extended gratitude to them on behalf of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. Special Secretary Health Abdullah Sumbal, Additional Secretary Health Muhammad Mushtaq, Director Health Dr Attiq-ur-Rehman and executive member of PPMA Riasat Ali Bhatti were also present on the occasion.
