The match-fixing scandal has been the licentious scandal ever in the entire history of Pakistan cricket team. The whole nation watched in astonishment as the News Channels showed the video of the match fixer taking the whopping amount of £150,000 for rigging the test match at the Lord's.
Three players - Captain Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir, and Mohammad Asif - are supposedly involved in this mortifying scandal. To make the things even more shameful, the whole nation has witnessed two fast bowlers delivering the pre-fixed three "No Balls".
Pakistan Cricket Board has denied all the charges and calling it a farce. But the denial cannot atone for the disgrace that has now become a part of our nation. Our cricket players have always been involved in these outrageous activities. Millions of Pakistanis, forsake their daily chores in order to watch the cricket team performance, but we are thwarted by our national "heroes" almost every time.
It is significant to note that the money that cricketers make is astronomical. They are paid highly for every match they play. They also have their share in the money given by sponsors for wearing the labels. The amount given to the players after winning the match is whopping in number. Moreover, many players have made loads of money through county cricket. Similarly, 98% of the cricket series are organised in foreign countries, giving the players yet another chance to mix business trip with pleasure. We can rightly claim that the money they make from one series is equivalent to the money earned by an average salaried person in 10 years.
A question arises in our minds in the light of above discussion. What motivates our players to shatter county's honour in spite of making heaps of money every year? Almost majority of the cricket players are illiterate and from very humble background. Being selected for Pakistan cricket team makes them rich in a few months.
Ironically, there is no remedy for greed and our cricket team is the perfect epitome of lust. All the cricket players involved in the incident should be exiled. Pakistan cricket team has made them what they are today and if they can't be sincere to their roots, they are not worthy of representing our country.
