Pakistan as fifth largest milk producing country can capture international dairy and meat market by exploiting its potential in accordance with modern technology and value addition mechanism being practised in modern world. This was stated by Managing Director, Nestle Pakistan, Ian James Donald. He was addressing Medal distribution ceremony jointly organised by National Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFSAT) UAF and Nestle Pakistan here on Wednesday.
He maintained that due to potential in productivity Nestle Pakistan has been offering financial and technical incentive to the farming community of Pakistan and in this regard the world's largest milk processing plant has been installed in the country. He added that University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) has great potential to provide trained manpower to the industrial sectors.
Vice Chancellor UAF, Professor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan earlier said that due to diversified climate and natural resources Pakistan has ability to grow world's best fruits and vegetables. But unfortunately due to non-availability of scientific infrastructure and modern technology they could not exploit resources judiciously. He maintained that Nestle has World's best mechanism to produce food products and the UAF will strengthen its relations for future collaboration.
Director General (NIFSAT) Dr Faqir Muhammad Anjum lauded the co-operation of Nestle Pakistan for the establishment of training centre at UAF campus for the working manpower of food industry that would be a milestone for boosting the food sector in the country. Corporate Manager Nestle Pakistan, Dr Farhat Jamil and others also spoke on the occasion. Many brilliant students were awarded gold medals. A large number of faculty members, directors and students attended the ceremony.
