Islamabad Police while tightening the noose of criminals have busted five gangs involved in car snatching, dacoities and other crimes and arrested 20 outlaws while 55 other criminals were arrested during the operation.
Police arrested 75 outlaws and recovered three stolen cars, arms and ammunition and other looted items worth million of rupees from the detained criminals, said Umar Hayat, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rural while addressing a press conference here on Thursday. He was flanked by DSP Rural Khurshid Ahmed Khan.
He said that the 20 members of the five different gangs have confessed during the preliminary investigation that they were involved in hiring vehicles and later snatching of vehicles at gun-point. He disclosed the names of the gang members that included Ijaz Ali, Muhammad Naqash, Muhammad Sharafat, Tamraz Khan, Fiaz Ahmed, Mahmood Shah, Tahir Nadeem, Tariq Khan, Saleem Sardar, Taimur Ahmed, Muhammad Saeed, Raheem Badsha, Amjad Islam, Qasim Khan, Hafiz Muhammad Ramzan, Zafar Iqbal, Lal Zada, Kaleem Ullah, Muhammad Bilal and Kiloor Khan.
He said that police have recovered three snatched vehicles, various fake numbers plates and Rs 305,000 from the criminals. Police also recovered twelve pistols, one Riffle, one dagger, 43 rounds, 134 bottles of liquor and 3690 gram chars from aforesaid accused. Besides these 75 persons the Rural Circle of Islamabad Police also arrested fourteen proclaimed offenders, three accused involved in murder cases and other ten accused who were selling fuel from government-owned vehicles. "We also recovered 28,760 liters fuel from their custody," SP added.
He said that after instruction from high officials, he constituted a special team supervised by DSP rural Khursheed Ahmad Khan, which launched massive hunt of the criminals. He said that during last 45 days they also raided various brothels and arrested 19 women and nine male for their alleged involvement in immoral activities. He said that rural circle police also proceeded under section 182 against nine accused for lodging fake applications against innocent citizens.
