Another contingent of Chinese doctors arrived here on Monday to serve the flood victims in interior of Sindh. "We have already a field hospital here in Thatta while the second team is going to serve the flood victims in Sehwan in Dadu district," said Colonel Wang Baocheng, team commander of the Chinese medical corps while talking to APP on arrival.
He said that the fresh team comprises of 94 personnel including male, female doctors, paramedical staff with varied medical expertise. He said that a total of 105 tonnes of medical supplies, including 30 tonnes landed here on Monday, during the last four days to meet the shortages. "Chinese government was informed a week back that there is shortage of medicines, particularly, for skin diseases and other life saving drugs so we are here to help the flood victims," Colonel Wang said.
Earlier, the contingent was received by Chinese consul general in Karachi, Zhang Jianxin and Army representative Brigadier Naeem Lone. The Chinese government has so far provided dollars 50 million in aid to the flood victims. It has set up a field medical hospital at Makli in Thatta district about a month back. The team at Makli is serving 500 to 700 patients per day, particularly, female and children.
