Finally the cat is out of the bag and Ijaz Butt is certainly speaking the truth about global cricket betting. He is back on the podium with vengeance. Being the chief of Pakistan's Cricket Board, Butt certainly has credentials and his statement should not be taken lightly.
English newspaper, News of the World and Sun may have certain agenda to improve sale of their respective newspapers. But Ijaz Butt is a responsible person. He is the boss of an important Test playing nation. I am shocked that the earlier reports on match fixing, spot fixing or fancy fixing provided by the British media without proper evidence, was the most favourite news report carried by the global media for almost a week.
But Izaj Butt's statement does not get similar coverage. Is this due to the bias approach or to protect the gentleman's game from corruption or this is some conspiracy against Pakistan cricket team. Butt's statement has certainly unsettled all those defending and protecting the culprits.
Will Haroon Lorgat [the ICC chief executive] send individual notices to the English and other players involved in wrong doings in a similar manner in which they sent notices to the Pakistani players? Or will the peers of cricket succumb to the pressure of elite of cricketing nations and the betting mafia. Or if Butt has given a false statement then does the ICC or the world cricket body has enough substance to send notice to Ijaz Butt to know the truth. Come on ICC show your guts. There are players from other nations involved in this dirty game. Here is your chance to clean the cricket from all the menace, which was once popularly known as gentleman's game.
