MQM blames Sindh government for targeted killings: over 12 killed in 18 hours
Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Monday held Sindh government responsible for killing of over half a dozen people in the fresh spree of targeted killing in the city that began Sunday. Some 10 people, including two MQM workers, were shot dead in incidents of targeted killings during the last 18 hours in different neighbourhoods of the city.
Addressing a crowded press conference at party headquarter - Nine-Zero, MQM Co-ordination Committee's deputy Convenor, Dr Farooq Sattar demanded of the President and the Prime Minister to ensure stoppage of targeted killing in Karachi.
Terming the ongoing violence as part of a conspiracy to malign Muttahida, Dr Farooq said some elements wanted to sabotage the ethnic harmony prevailing in this metropolis. He demanded of his coalition partners in federal and provincial governments to respond certain questions such as: Why law and order situation was created during last two days after the murder of MQM leader Dr Imran Farooq in London?
He said through violence an impression was being created that as if the recent killings were a reaction of Dr Imran's murder. According to MQM leader, some 12 people, including two of his party activists, had fallen prey to incidents of killings in the city where some conspirators were destroying peace. Unidentified gunmen reportedly killed Dilawar, 22, and Farhan Ghayas both from MQM, in Korangi and Federal B Area.
Dr Farooq also lashed out at Sindh government, particularly the home department, for its failure to maintain peace. He claimed that there was no writ of the government to stop terrorists. Condemned bloodletting of the innocent citizens, the deputy convenor called upon the masses and MQM workers to jointly foil the conspiracies being hatched against peace of their city. Malir, North Karachi, Liaquatabad, Ancholi, Metroville, University Road, Ibrahim Hydri, Abul-Hasan Isfahani Road, New Karachi and Rizvia were the areas where assailants let loose reign of terror.
