Sindh Health Minister Dr Saghir Ahmed has ordered to establish free eye camps in provincial and local government hospitals to deal with the increasing number of patients with eye infection. The purpose of the move is to facilitate the patients with eye infection and to control its further spread in the metropolis. The minister directed the Secretary Health to ensure availability of Ophthalmologists, diagnostic tools and medicines in the camps.
Sources told Business Recorder that Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi, Secretary, Health Sindh also called a high-level meeting of Medical Superintendents (MS) of all the provincial and local government hospitals and Executive District Officer (EDO) Health to chalk out a strategy to materialise this plan. He directed the attendants of the meeting to ensure presence of eye specialists in the camps.
The meeting also decided to establish isolation wards for dengue patients. The secretary directed the representatives of hospitals to ensure availability of mega units in their respective hospitals. Zaidi directed to establish a communication network for accurate reporting of dengue patients and asked the Focal Persons (FPs) of Provincial Dengue Surveillance Cell (PDSC) to gather data of dengue patients also from private hospitals.
