The industrial machinery at Port Qasim industrial area is turning down due to unannounced loadshedding, said Bin Qasim Association of Trade and Industry (BQATI) in a statement on Saturday. The menace is inflicting heavy losses on the industries in the port area, the Association said while drawing attention of the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC).
It said that whereas the costly and heavy machineries were turning down, the industrialists were compelled to send the same abroad for repair in the absence of local facility. "Thereby, the business community is bearing heavy losses for machinery repairing and this is due to KESC's unanimated loadshedding," it added.
BQATI went on to claim that many applications were sent to draw the attention of the concerned quarters towards this issue, but the officials always came up with the excuse of a low gas pressure. It said a request had also been extended to the KESC for exempting the PQA industrial area from unannounced loadshedding, ensuring uninterrupted supply of electricity to the industries.
According to BQATI, economic progress of the country depended on the industrial production that must be enabled to control such unnecessary heavy losses. The Association said BQATI and KESC had a great role in the betterment and prosperity of the country.
