Two more people including an ex-Army man were shot dead in two separate incidents of targeted killing in the city on Monday. Muhammad Bashir, 52, son of Nasruddin was gunned down by pillion riders near Mehran Depot in the jurisdiction of Model Colony police station.
Police said the victim was on his way to Malir Cantt on bike when two armed men intercepted him near Mehran Depot and sprayed him with bullets. The deceased was shifted to nearby hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. They said Muhammad Bashir was recently retired from the armed forces. The body of the victim was handed over to the heirs without post-mortem. No case was registered till our going to press.
In another incident, a Steel Mill worker was killed in Gulshan-e-Hadeed within Steel Town police limit. Steel Town Station House Officer (SHO) Imdad Shah told Business Recorder that Zaheer Abbas, 28, son of Rashid was ambushed by an armed man when he was going to his office. The armed man shot a single bullet in his head and he died on the spot. The body of the deceased was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for autopsy and later handed over to the heirs. No case was registered till our going to press.
