Chairman Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) Zafar Altaf has said that the scientists have developed a pharmacy at NARC where a number of plants are grown that can be used for remedial blood pressure, anti allergy and other diseases. Now farmers can develop home pharmacy for their own use or commercial basis.
Briefing a journalists delegation that visited the National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) on PARC and other research activities being carried out at the center he said PARC new initiatives will benefit growers and improve the economy of the country, says a press release.
He apprised that PARC is making efforts to develop agriculture sector and economy of the country through innovative technologies. He said at NARC scientists have developed a model for bio-remediation of Chak Shahzad sewage water which is being used for Irrigation purposes at NARC.
"The country has 9000 hectors areas under production of different fruits and is getting from which 7.2 million tones of fruits. He also showed different types of pears, grapes, guava and others trees to the journalists. Director General NARC, Dr Ifitkhar Ahmad while briefing said that PARC is playing tremendous role for improving the production of Olive Germplasm and has also signed MOU with private sector for developing low cast machines for extraction of olive oil so that the growers could get the final product at their homes.
