Pak origin UK nationals on Sunday despatched three containers of blankets, quilts, sweaters and warm clothes to Lahore for its onward distribution among the flood victims.
President Arain Council, UK Pervaiz Alam from Manchester told Chairman Arain Supreme Council, Pakistan Mian Muhammad Saeed Deraywalay by telephone that three containers loaded with new warm clothes worth 150,000 pounds have been sent to Lahore for the flood affected people.
Mian Saeed, the leader of eight member Pak delegation during recent visit to UK had urged all the expatriates to come forward and join hand with the organisations engaged in relief operation in Pakistan as it was time for all out to help the destitutes.
President Arian Supreme Council, Pakistan Lieutenant General Ghulam Mustafa (Retd) expressed deep concern and sorrow over the destruction of infrastructure and displacement of people.
The UK nationals responded to the appeal and Mian Muhammad Tariq and Mian Muhammad Saeed announced a donation of two containers of warm clothes, blankets, all worth Rs 30,000 pounds. Mian Muhammad Saleem and Main Jamil Ahmad announced to bear the all expenses for the construction of a high school building.
Chaudhry Muhammad Anwar, owner of knitting factory, Manchester promised to construct a grand mosque while Muhammad Farooq, chief executive "MOT" network UK announced a donation of 150,000 Pounds.
Arain Council, UK assured that they would continue to support the flood victims till their complete rehabilitation. Other members of Pak delegation included Dr Malik Muhammad Akhtar, Parliamentary Secretary, Finance Department Punjab, ex-MNA Arshad Ghurki, Chaudhry Ghulam Rasul, Deputy Chief Manager SBP, Dr Waqar Chaudhary senior journalist, business magnate Qammaruzzaman and Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ahmad, Chief Organiser.
