Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) Khwaja Muhammad Sharif on Tuesday took suo motu notice of the death of two bikers after alleged fear of police firing in Gulshan Ravi and summoned SP Allam Iqbal Town and SHO concerned to appear before the court with record of the case on 20 October (today).
The CJ observed in the notice that the police was paid from state's exchequer to protect the lives and properties of the citizens as also to maintain law and order and not to become a symbol of terror for the poor masses. The CJ said: "I am inclined to know the real facts of the matter and the action taken by the high ups of police."
The Chief Justice took notice at a news time published on October 18. The story said due to negligence, fear, pursuit and firing of Gulshan Ravi police two bike-riders namely Irfan and Salman while running away jumped from the speedy bike and sustained serious injuries. Irfan died on the way to hospital and the other succumbed to his injuries at hospital.
