The Senior Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq said that since flood affected people are returning to their native places, the academic sessions in Schools have also been started. He said that we are well aware of the loss to students' education due to establishment of relief camps in their school buildings but saving human lives, property and providing shelter to affected people are more important for us.
He was presiding over a meeting of officers of education departments of Hyderabad, Jamshoro and Dadu districts at Mehran University Rest House, Jamshoro.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Special Education Waseem Ursani, Additional Secretary Schools, Shams-ud-din Sehto, Regional Director Colleges, EDOs education of Hyderabad, Jamshoro and Dadu districts. The Senior Sindh Education Minister directed the EDOs education to submit report of damages of school buildings and its furniture with in three days. He also directed them that if in schools where flood affectees are in small number and enrolment of such schools are in large number so shift the flood affectees in other schools or government buildings.
He informed that concerned DCOs have already been given directives that besides provision of food and other basic necessary facilities to IDPs ensure their safe return to their native places. Senior Sindh Education Minister was informed that almost all IDPs belonging to Sukkur and Khairpur had made their way to home, while in 102 schools of Hyderabad District, 88 schools have been vacated, whereas 1500 IDPs are still residing in 24 primary/middle schools. He was informed that 50 schools have destroyed in recent flood. He was also informed that 148 schools of Dadu have been vacated and arrangements of shifting IDPs in city hostels from 31 schools were being made, while 19 schools have completely damaged.
He was also informed that out of 157000 IDPs 4000 are residing in 15 schools of District Jamshoro. The Senior Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq expressed his anger over absence of concerned officers in meeting and directed them to report in education department.
