The District Administrator Hyderabad Aftab Ahmed Khatri has said that out of 73 dengue virus infected patients, admitted in Civil Hospital Hyderabad, 68 have recovered and discharged their homes till date. He said that four patients were still admitted and getting treatment while one patient lost his life at Civil Hospital Hyderabad.
He was presiding over meeting to discuss ways and means to control fast increasing dengue virus, which created alarming position in the district held at his camp office. He said that though diagnosis and medical treatment of dengue virus was costly in the private hospitals but government was providing this service free of cost at Civil Hospital Hyderabad and other hospital in public sector. He said this virus can only be defeated by the public awareness and people must have to follow the guidelines of health department, which includes avoiding stagnant of clean water, special in the flowerpots and other spaces in the house.
Khatri said that district government has started fumigation in the district and had completed its one round and second was in progress, however in case of missing areas if any, people must identify so that same can be covered. He directed the officers of all T.M.A in the District to maintain cleanness on war footing basis and also asked health management to put their health education staff in the field and create awareness among the masses about dengue virus.
He said that to meet out with this challenge was the joint responsibility of all stakeholders and each individual and organisation has to pay its effective role in the anti dengue virus campaign. He urged upon the private and electronic media to play its role for creating awareness among the masses as preventive measure.
The focal person for dengue virus Dr Rasheed Akhter briefed the meeting about measures taken up to control over disease. Officers from Health and Local government department attended the meeting.
