Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Sunday that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and PML-Q were hue and cry over petty issues to mislead and hoodwink the masses while both were supporting the government on major issues. They did not raise voice even against the price hike of essential commodities.
Talking to JUI office-bearers of Multan headed by Khurshid Abbas Gardezi, he said that JUI workers should educate the people about their real problems, miseries and said that there was no chance of mid-term election in the country and the present assemblies would complete their tenure.
Rehman said that idea of mid-term election was the wishful thinking on part of certain elements otherwise there was not a bleak chance of this happening so he would not comment on this topic anymore. About the co-operation of his party with the government despite having differences, Fazl said, "It is better to play the role of opposition while remaining in the government rather than extending co-operation by remaining in the opposition". He said that Pakistan was presently facing threats to its internal security and in such conditions, the country may not be able to keep on co-operating with the international partners on anti-terror war. He suggested the review of country's anti-terror policies in line with the recommendations of the parliamentary committee.
Fazl, who is also the chairman of the Kashmir committee, said that letters have been written to the provincial governments and the foreign ministry to effectively highlight the issue of Kashmir at international forums with special stress on the human rights situation in Indian-held Kashmir (IHK). He said the committee was fully alive to the sufferings of the Kashmiri people and members of the committee had wanted to play their role effectively. The JUI-F chief said that his party had the commitment with constitution and democracy and it would continue playing its role for the strengthening of institutions.
