Vice-Chancellor Punjab University Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that our national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal, through his soul-lifting poetry, paved the way for bringing into existence of Pakistan, the first atomic power of the Muslim world, for which the entire nation would ever remain indebted to the poet of East.
He paid rich tributes to Allama Iqbal while talking to representatives of the electronic media after offering fateha and laying floral wreath at the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal on the eve of his birth anniversary. Dr Kamran said that Shair-i-Mashraq had realised through his far-sightedness that Pakistan and Afghanistan, owing to their strategic geographical location, represent the very heart of Asia. As such the survival of Pakistan and Afghanistan as independent countries is a must for the glory of Islam and rise of the Muslim Ummah.
He said the philosopher father of Pakistan infused the Muslims of subcontinent with the passion to acquire freedom and independence from the yoke of the British and Hindu rule. The Vice Chancellor observed that perpetual competition and struggle for supremacy and superiority continues amongst the world nations. Earlier, VC Dr Mujahid Kamran along with Pro vice chancellor Professor Dr Jamil Anwar Chaudhry, Registrar Professor Dr Muhammad Akhtar, Director Institute of Business Administration Professor Dr Muhammad Ehsan Malik, along with senior faculty members, scholars and students laid floral wreath and offered fateha for the departed soul of Allama Iqbal.
While a delegation of students and teachers of the GC University Lahore led by Professor Tariq Zaidi visited Iqbal's mausoleum and laid floral a wreath. They also offered fateha for the soul of the great national poet. The GCU Majlis-e-Iqbal has the honour to pay tribute to the poet of the East, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, by holding lectures, seminars and inter-varsity quiz activities throughout the year. It is pertinent to mention here that GCU Lahore is the alma mater of the great philosopher and poet.
