The Jamaat-i-Islami Secretary General, Liaquat Baloch, has called upon the federal government to lodge strong protest with the British authorities for the cancellation of visa to the former JI chief, Qazi Husain Ahmed and other respectable leaders of the country.
In a letter written to the Foreign Minister Shah Mehmud Qureshi, he said that Qazi Husain Ahmed had to visit Britain on the invitation of the UK Islamic Mission and participate in different programmes. The British High Commissioner in Islamabad had issued five years visa to Qazi Sahib on October 7 last, but the very next day, the High Commission informed about the cancellation of the visa for unknown reasons.
JI Secretary General said that Qazi Husain Ahmed was not only the former chief of the JI but had also been a member of the parliament for 17 long years and rendered valuable services for the country and the nation. Qazi Sahib's activities had always been within the law and he had always the champion of peaceful struggle. He said the cancellation of visa by the British government was highly deplorable and part of the negative campaign by the anti-Islam and anti-Pakistan lobby in the British government. He stressed upon the rulers to effectively counter such propaganda and stress upon the British authorities to withdraw the visa cancellation orders.
