Leading scientists and professional should work hard to provide latest technology to the 70 percent small farmers and play their due role in enhancing food production of the country. This was stated by Punjab Agriculture Minister Ahmad Ali Aulakh, while addressing at inaugural session of two days national seminar tilted "Molecular cytogenetics - a powerful selection and diagnostic tool in livestock, equines, pets, fisheries and game animals" held at Ravi Campus Pattoki on Wednesday.
The national seminar was organised by University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) in collaboration with Higher Education Commission under the aegis of dean faculty of animal production and technology Professor Talat Naseer Pasha.
Ahmad Ali Aulak said that the Punjab government was taking initiatives for the up lift of veterinary care services and improving the genetic breed and establishing more slaughter houses across the province adding that livestock sector has immense potential as against agriculture because the rural economy was dependent on such sectors.
Agriculture Minister said that no country could pave to progress with out energy while Pakistan has to face severe energy and corruption epidemics. He said well-produced food help upgrade human being health and mental capability increase life expectancy. Aulakh praised the services of UVAS volunteer's students during the flood and paid rich tribute in this regard.
The UVAS Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Nawaz said that training at national seminar would be useful for improving the livestock GDP. Dr Nawaz requested the government to provide endowment fund for livestock education. He said "it is dire need to introduce commercial technologies in animal production to achieve self sufficiency in the production of high quality animal foods to meet growing demands for these products at national level". Later Ahmad Ali Aulakh inaugurated the exhibition and visited the training and research centre for livestock marketing.
