Chief Minister, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has approved the enhancement in the minimum rates of wages at the rate of Rs 7000 per month for unskilled workers. The decision has been taken in line with the announcement made by the federal government in the Labour Policy 2010. This decision will be effective from July 1, 2010.
The chief minister also approved in principle the creation of 50 posts of male head warders and 10 posts of female head warders (BPS-7) in the Inspectorate of Prisons during the current financial year. He, however, directed to abolish the same number of posts of warders in order to save the provincial exchequer from undue expenditure.
This step has been taken with a view to address the long-standing issue of promotion of the watch and ward staff of the Inspectorate. The chief minister has further approved the reconstruction of the suspension bridge over River Kabul between Hakimabad and Pir Sabak in District Nowshera. The bridge will be reconstructed as a non-ADP scheme for which funds will be arranged by P&D department from the special provision created for restoration/rehabilitation of flood damages in the province. Estimated cost of the scheme will be Rs 6.00 million.
