Sui Northern Gas Company Limited (SNGPL) under a new load management programme has asked the government to permit it observing a three days gas holiday for industry and two day for CNG stations, it is learnt from reliable sources.
The Company had submitted a report to the Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) in its recently held meeting, the SNGPL stated that gas availability in winter will go down about 40 per cent and due to increase in demand in domestic sector it cannot follow the present schedule.
Company sources claimed that fresh schedule would be issued after Eid. Sources said that due to low availability of gas they were unable to follow the present schedule. Sources further said that with the present schedule they would be unable to supply gas to over 2000 production units in the last week of November. The industry sector is already observing two days cut in week at present.
Sources said that gas supply affected due to increase in gas heaters and geysers in winter. He stressed on efficient use of heaters in geysers in winter. However, they claimed that there would be no load shedding of gas for domestic consumers.
Earlier, the Prime Minister in a meeting assured the CNG Association that the gas supply to CNG station would not be closed for more than a day. Meanwhile, on Monday and Tuesday (today), industrial sector in Faisalabad, Multan, Islamabad, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur and Sheikhpura is observing holidays.
Total supply of 785 mmcfd is available to SNGPL from Qadirpur, (365 mmcfd), MOL (245 mmcfd) and Zamzama Gas field (175 mmcfd). In addition, SNGPL is receiving more gas of around 70 mmcfd from Nashpa, Bela, Salsabeel, Chiltan, and Mela.
