An effective intelligence system is not only imperative for eradicating crime, but also helps law enforcement agencies to work efficiently, said Tahir Alam Khan Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Islamabad here on Wednesday.
It is need of hour to improve the existing intelligence system in eliminating the anti-social elements in a more efficient manner, the SSP said while addressing a crime review meeting, which was attended by Deputy Superintendent of Police Altaf Aziz Khattak, Station House Officers of all police stations and other officials.
The SSP directed the officers to expand the intelligence network in their respective areas and collect all the required information about criminals to ensure peaceful atmosphere and prevention of subversive activities in the federal capital. "All the officers should take measures and brief the members of the citizen security and vigilance committees and beat-officers on the security plan to uproot anti-social elements from the society", he added.
Khan urged for continuation of search operations especially in rural areas of the capital, bus stands and forests, besides apprehending suspected persons for interrogation. He also directed to further tighten security in and around all important government installations and police stations to avoid any untoward incident. He said people staying at hotels and motels should be properly checked and do not let beggars in Islamabad territory. He said that a comprehensive fool-proof security plan for the capital is in place, which would be implemented at all cost.
