Punjab Labour and Human Resources Minister, Ashraf Khan Sohna has said that Punjab Workers Welfare Board (PWWB) has commenced Matriculation Technical Programme as a pilot project in six workers' welfare schools of the province. He disclosed this while talking to a delegation of labourers here on Tuesday, disclosed n official.
The minister said that initially, classes have been started in workers welfare schools for boys in Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Lahore and Sialkot, and workers welfare school for girls in Multan. He was of the view that technical education programme will enable the children to serve the country and their families in a better way.
Sohna informed that the board is providing free of cost facilities to the students, which includes transport, books and uniform. New workers welfare schools are also being set up in various cities of the province. Moreover, evening shift in various workers welfare schools have already commenced wherein a number of children of labourers are receiving education. He pledged that Punjab government will continue to work for the welfare and rights of labourers.
