A full bench of Lahore High Court here Tuesday deferred the hearing to December 23, of a petition seeking disqualification of Rehman Malik as senator on the basis of his having been removed from government service. A single bench comprising Justice Sh Azmat Saeed was hearing this petition and on his direction Deputy Attorney General Naveed Inayat Malik had produced the copy of notification under which Rehman's removal from services was converted into retirement.
On November 03 the single bench had referred the matter to Chief Justice for constitution of a larger bench to hear matter. Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi, media advisor of Save Judiciary Committee, moved the petition in which he submitted that Rehman Malik was removed from service in Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in 1998 and as such he was not eligible to be elected senate member.
