Government College University (GCU) Lahore has completed record 113 development projects and civil works in the last 13 years, besides introducing 53 study programmes and 11 new disciplines during this period, said GCU Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Khalid Aftab while talking to a delegation of National School of Public Policy, led by Ahmad Yar Khan.
The delegation comprising senior bureaucrats, ambassadors and other participants of the 93rd Management Course, visited the university to learn about its policy formulation and decision-making. Professor Dr Aftab informed the delegates that out of total 113; as many as 54 projects were completed in the last four years which included establishment of Institute of Biotechnology, Sustainable Development Study Centre, Pakistan Botanic Gardens Network Secretariat and Students Service Centre.
The VC credited financial support of Higher Education Commission and good managerial skills of team-mates for the timely and successful completion of the projects. Talking about the academic reforms, he said 53 new academic programmes, which are being introduced at GCU since 1997 included microbiology, biotechnology, forensic chemistry, telecommunications, electronics, human biology, environmental science and electrical engineering.
