A spokesman for Tribal Areas Electricity Supply Company (Tesco) has asked heads of various government departments in Fata and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to clear their dues amounting to Rs 672 million by the end of the current calendar year. The spokesman said that company had Rs 598.721 million arrears against eleven major government departments in Fata and KPK by October 2010.
Out of total arrears Rs 21.869 million are pending against Cadet College Razmak, Rs 39.352 million against Fata D.C, Rs 25.294 million against Garrison Engineers Army, Rs 35.780 million against Militia Scouts, Rs 21.182 million against Frontier Corps and Rs 21.831 million against Political Agents in Fata.
Similarly Rs 28.683 million arrears are outstanding against education, Rs 55.325 million against health, Rs 123.926 million against Work and Services, Rs 178.747 million against Water Management and Rs 46.732 million against irrigation and Power in KPK. Tesco has issued notices to these departments to clear their dues in time because the financial position of the company is fragile and it could not bear additional burden of arrears, which would further increase if not paid.
The spokesman said that company would have no other option except to resort to disconnection of these departments if they failed to deposit their dues by the deadline. He said The Chief Executive Officer Tesco Engr Pervez Khan Swati has directed field formations to expedite the recovery from Government departments and ensure the complete recovery from the defaulting government connections by 31st December.
