CDGK terminates retired employees by cancelling contracts

City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has terminated all of the retired employees working on contractual basis by cancelling the contracts with immediate effect here on Wednesday. The notice issued from the office of Masood Alam, District Officer, Human Resources Management, CDGK withdrawn all the contractual engagement orders of retired employees who were hired in different departments of CDGK with immediate effect on December 8, 2010.
The notice was issued with the approval of Fazlur Rehman, Administrator, CDGK. Officials in CDGK told Business Recorder that around 150 terminated employees had completed their employment period and were all working on contractual basis in CDGK. All of the retired employees working on contracts were also receiving pensions other than the salary despite financial crisis in CDGK, they said. They added that to minimise financial burden on city government the step of termination is taken as most of the contractual employees who have been terminated were working on high salaries.
