LHC issues contempt notice to Secretary Health Punjab

The Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Friday issued a contempt notice to secretary health Punjab Fawad Hassan Fawad for his failure to file reply to a petition of a doctor to whom he had issued show cause notice for doing private practice. Dr Asghar Ali registrar artho department of Services Hospital, Lahore filed the contempt petition. Petitioner counsel Kh Tariq Suhail submitted that petitioner always had good annual confidential reports (ACRs) during entire career.
Counsel said surprisingly in March 2010 petitioner was suspended against which he moved to the competent authority requesting for withdrawal of impugned order. He submitted that later on May 31 a show cause notice was also issued to the petitioner through medical superintendent of the hospital on the allegation of indulging in private practice. He said that it was quite well aware to the court that almost every official doctor is involved in private practice in letter and spirit despite code of conduct laid down by the government.
