Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan and UAE have always shown support for Pakistan in "thick and thin" and this translates into concrete investments in Pakistan. He said that as Pakistan's second largest trade and investment partner, UAE enjoys a special relationship with Pakistan.
The CM, who is leading a delegation of 100 CEOs under Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT), called on Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister for Higher Education and Scientific Research of UAE at his palace in Abu Dhabi.
Shahbaz thanked Sheikh Nahyan for his hospitality and hoped that UAE, particularly the sheikh, will help promote investment and trade between the two regions.
Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Nahyan said that close ties between Pakistan and UAE are unparalleled and "when someone hurts Pakistan, they hurt us." He wished Pakistan prosperity and said he looks forward to see it grow as a strong player in the comity of nations.
Earlier, talking to newsmen on his arrival at Abu Dhabi Airport, Punjab chief minister said that there are chances of co-operation between Punjab and UAE in the field of industry, agriculture and livestock.
It may be mentioned here that Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan is also the Chairman of Dhabi Group, which is the owner of Bank Alfalah, Warid, Wateen Telecom and part of UBL.
Meanwhile, the first Pakistan Business & Investment Conference is being held in Dubai in which delegates from more than 20 countries are expected to take part. The conference has been organised by PBIT in association with Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and International Business & Networking Forum (IBN Forum).
According to the organisers of the moot, Pakistani delegation will hold meetings with the businessmen of UAE. Also, a working lunch is being hosted in Abu Dhabi by Dhabi Group where leading businessmen will participate. The delegation will also make special visits to Dubai Chamber of Commerce, Dubai Department of Economic Development and Sharjah Chamber of Commerce with a view to expanding business to business relationship between the two countries.
The delegation will also hold talks with Dubai Airport Freezone and road and transport authority of Dubai.
