The young doctors of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has warned the provincial government for immediate release of the already sanctioned funds for FCPS-II training and in case of failure in acceptance their demands they would take streets to express their protest. This was stated by Dr Mohammad Shah Bangash while addressing a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club (PPC) on Monday while flanked a number of young doctors.
He said that at resort they would not hesitate to go for lock up of the major hospitals in the province. He said that about 2000 doctors passed their MBBS examination from different medical colleges of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and examination of FCPS-I. However, out of 1000 doctors attempting the examination only 250 to 300 qualify it.
After the passage of the FCPS, imparting FCPS-II or specialisation training is moral and professional rights of such candidates. Such candidates are given training in the verified institutions of CPSP.
He said that the young doctors of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were promised in the annual budget for financial year 2010-11 and the prospectus of postgraduate Medical Institute that 250 candidates would be provided training in the year. He said that 322 candidates were waiting for their training through the PGMI since last one-year. But, the provincial government instead of fulfilling the promise of provision of training facility to chosen only 42 candidates out of the total 322 and the remaining 280 candidates were deprived of the right of training.
Dr Mohammad Shah Bangash said that according to CPSP rules and regulations the registration of the candidates for the training concerned is must before the end of the January. Otherwise, the future of the 280 doctors waiting for training would become dark.
The lack of the provision of the training facility in January would expire the deadline or the registration of candidates for the specialisation with CPSP and they would have to wait for another year. He also expressed the fear that delaying tactics in the provision of training facilities would result in the lapsing of the FCPS-I examination of the professional doctors.
The Dean of the PGMI, he said has also brought the matter into the notice of the government and has written five letters to the Secretary Health in this regard. But, no action was taken for the resolution of the problem. He reminded government of its pledges that all doctors would be provided training as soon as possible while 250 seats have also been sanctioned in the budget for financial year 2010-11. He demanded of the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haider Khan Hoti and Provincial Minister for Health, Syed Zahir Ali Shah for the release of funds for the already sanctioned seats.
