Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that his government is utilising all available resources for the rapid development of the province and provision of basic amenities to the masses and timely and transparent completion of development projects is being ensured.
He was talking to assembly members from various districts here on Tuesday, disclosed an official. He also said the menace of corruption will have to be rooted out for progress of the country and collective efforts are needed for this purpose. The government has taken solid measures for the maintenance of an atmosphere of religious harmony, brotherhood and law and order during Muharram-ul-Haram and law enforcement agencies have been put on high alert, he added.
According to him, the government is the custodian of every penny of public money and all available resources are being spent only on the welfare of the masses. Solid steps are being taken for the uplift of education, health, infrastructure, agriculture, livestock and other sectors. Setting up of Danish schools in backward areas will not only help polish the talent of boy and girl students of these areas but will also open up new avenues of development in these regions. Mobile health units are being imported for extending modern health facilities to the people of remote and far-flung areas and these health units will be equipped with latest healthcare facilities. The health department will not be concerned with these mobile units and the supplier companies will be responsible for the maintenance of the health units and provision of medical facilities. The health Department will only serve as regulator.
He said better security arrangements have been made this year compared to the past for ensuring peace in Muharram-ul-Haram and a special cabinet committee headed by Senior Advisor Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has been constituted. Similarly, he said, peace committees throughout the province have been activated. He expressed the hope that peace and tranquility will prevail during Ashura-e-Muharram-ul-Haram with the co-operation of Ulema and the masses. Elected representatives should maintain a close contact with the people of their respective areas and play a proactive role for maintaining religious harmony and brotherhood, he added.
Those who met the Chief Minister included Rai Ijaz Hussain, Iftikhar Ahmed Khan, Muhammad Yaqoob Nadeem Sethi, Haji Muhammad Naeem, Safdar Ansari, Sardar Malik Jahanzaib Waran, Chaudhry Ashraf Jutt, Chaudhry Ahsan Khan and Rana Ijaz Ahmed Noon. MPAs Hafiz Mian Muhammad Nauman and Kh. Salman Rafiq were also present on this occasion. They apprised the Chief Minister of the pace of implementation of development schemes and problems of their respective areas.
