The District Co-ordination Officer and Administrator Hyderabad. Aftab Ahmed Khatri has informed that data of 96,000 youths qualified in more than 360 different trades have been uploaded in the "Sindh Youth Employment Services (SYES)" portal of www.bbsydpsindh.gov.pk website and urged upon the employers of different organisations to absorb these trained, filtered, educated and energetic youths in their organisations, so that poverty and unemployment from the society can be eradicated.
This he observed while presiding over a meeting in his office at Shahbaz Building Hyderabad today which he convened to finalise the arrangements for conducting workshop on "Training Needs Assessment" with reference to employment of qualified youths of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Programme (BBSYDP) on December 21, 2010 here at Hyderabad.
He said that this workshop aimed to establish liaison with employers for the employment of BBSYDP graduates. He said that leaders of business community, industrialists and heads of various organisations in public and private sector have been invited to attend the workshop to get feedback.
Aftab Ahmed Khatri said that providing job opportunities to the skilled manpower was also in the interest of business community as it generate income opportunities, and raises purchasing power of common man, thus creates demand of goods and encourage further investment.
He said that the nursery of human resources, which planted by the present government under BBSYDP, enabling youths for job opportunities, now has been getting its maturity and giving positive result to the society. He said that during first phase of BBSYDP started in 2008-2009 total 32131 youths achieved their graduation successfully against the target of 50,000 youths.
He said that at present 27% out of these 32131 successful graduates have been absorbed in different organisations in public and private sectors. Similarly in the second phase of BBSYDP 2009-2010 against the target of 60280 youths, 29558 got their graduation successfully till yet while the training of others was in progress.
He said that registration of youths in third phase of BBSYDP was in progress and here at Hyderabad more than 4000 youths so far have been enrolled. The DCO Hyderabad Aftab Ahmed Khatri further informed the meeting that recently a survey of market oriented trades was conducted by BBSYDP management that identified more than 100 new potential trades relating to engineering, science & technology and human resources fields which would be included in BBSYDP to enhance its scope.
He said that after devastation caused by flash flood, the importance of inducting trained youths into national and regional organisations has been increased specially with the reference to rehabilitation of damaged areas. The Secretary BBSYDP Hyderabad Region Mr Ashraf informed the meeting that out of 96,000 youths' data uploaded in the SYES, 15,000 youths belongs to Hyderabad Region. He said that the workshop, which was being organised by BBSYDP at Hyderabad, would pave the way for the employment of the youths in thousands trained under BBSYDP.
The EDO Revenue Syed Barkat Rizvi, Consultant World Bank Sharif Ansari, President HCCI, Deputy Director Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA), Deputy Director Manpower Training Wing Labour Department and other representatives from government and private organisations attended the meeting.
