Tribal Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry (TACCI) has demanded immediate halt to closure of National Power Control Centre (NPCC) to bring the industries of the tribal region out of the prevailing crisis. The demand was made by President, TACCI, Fayyaz Ali Khan and Vice President, Gul Ayaz Khan in a joint statement issued here on Monday.
They said that flawed strategy of past and unscheduled power shutdown for the industrial units of FATA inflicting financial losses to the tune of millions of rupees in head of revenue for the government. The office bearers of the TACCI welcomed the appointment of Pervez Swati as new Chief Executive, Tribal Electricity Supply Company (TESCO) and suggested to it for binding on consultation with the chamber in this regard.
He was of the view that the load shedding has resulted in the closure of 70 to 80 percent industrial units in FATA and inflicting billions of rupees loss and rendering thousands of workers unemployed. For preventing such situation in future, they called for locally authorised engineers for better management of the power sector like other power distribution companies and ensure the smooth supply of electricity. The TACCI chief expressed the hope that the newly appointed Chief Executive of TESCO will help stand the dwindling economy of tribal area and would prepare strategy for the revival of terrorism affected areas. He assured full co-operation to TESCO on behalf of the tribal area chamber.-PR
