Altaf phones Jamaat-i-Islami Amir

The MQM chief, Altaf Hussain, rang up the Jamaat-i-Islami Amir, Syed Munawar Hasan, Monday evening and discussed with him the current situation in the country. According to the JI spokesperson, two leaders expressed deep concern over the prevailing situation and agreed that all the political parties should jointly strive to meet the challenges confronting the country's independence and sovereignty besides the deteriorating economic conditions.
The MQM chief supported the JI's stance on the RGST and said the proposed tax would add to poverty and specially hit the lower middle class people. The MQM was also opposing the RGST, he said. Altaf Hussain appreciated the JI rally in Karachi on Sunday against the RGST, poverty, price hike, corruption and in support of the Blasphemy law. The MQM chief also stressed the need for ignoring the past differences between the two parties and said he wanted to remain in touch with the JI for common goals in the larger interest of the country.
