Ambassador of Finland to Pakistan, Osmo Lipponen has said Finland is looking for good trade and cultural relations with Pakistan. Addressing members of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Osmo Lipponen said that although population of Pakistan is 25 times higher than that of Finland, yet volume of Finland's foreign trade earnings are four times larger than Pakistani exports.
Osmo Lipponen said that the Finnish leading brands in the world cellular company Nokia belongs to Finland. He also overviewed the involvement of Finland in technical support of Pakistan's harbour and 11 airports. Osmo applauded the interest shown by KCCI in Finnish technical advantage and suggested to establish vibrant links with Finland Chamber of Commerce. The Finnish Ambassador briefed on the bio-fuel system Finland employs, the most advance -second generation energy technology- extracted through Sugar Cane.
President KCCI Muhammad Saeed Shafiq said that Finland enjoys technical edge in Europe with its cellular and sports brands, alternative energy solutions, technological inventions; the economy is ruling the globe. Pakistan offers huge potential in technology arena; the burgeoning human resources and talented engineers make Pakistan an idea market for investment. President said that the Finnish should consider Pakistan for investment and help the growing economy with new generation technological solutions. He also invited Finland to participate in KCCI flagship exhibition, My-Karachi to be held in June 2011.
Senior Vice President KCCI. Talat Mahmood said that Pakistan has more than 60 million of mobile users and provides an ideal platform for investments in different areas. Vice President KCCI, Junaid Esmail Makda, called for more textile quotas in Europe and steering investment in alternative energy sector of Pakistan. Finland should help the nation fight with Energy crisis with modern alternative energy cheap solutions, Makda said.
