A six-member delegation from BATA Pakistan - a prominent world leader in the industry of producing shoes - recently visited the flood affected Kot Addu district of Southern Punjab. The team actively participated in relief activities to help the flood victims in the region. Under the BATA Children's Programme, Bata volunteers both locally and internationally responded swiftly and aptly to aid those hit by the floods.
Restoration was initiated at educational institutions. In the first stage, schools in Charsadda and Kot Addu were restored. Four schools that had been completely destroyed by the floods were completely reconstructed whilst other less damaged schools were renovated with new walls, classrooms, washrooms and fresh paint.
Playgrounds were also constructed and 500 enrolled students were provided with books, bags and shoes. Bata also arranged for clean drinking water for the students and the other residents of the region by installing 13 hand pumps, and 150 deep bore water pumps. 100 families that had been adversely affected by the floods were also provided with beds.-PR
