Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) has urged Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) authorities to restore the electricity connections of agricultural tube wells, which were cut by its officials in Tandlianwala, Rehmay Shah and Mamokanjan subdivisions.
KBP President Sardar Zafar Hussein Khan, Faisalabad district head Mian Rehan ul Haq and Tandlianwala Tehsil President, Mehar Ahmad Yar Khan Fatiana strongly protested over this act of Fesco and staged a demonstration in front of the XEN Sumandari Division (Faisalabad), said Secretary Information KBP, Haji Muhammad Ramzan here Monday.
Ramzan said KBP Tandlianwala president lodged a writ at Lahore High Court against the withdrawal of subsidy in electricity prices for agricultural tube wells. The court issued a stay order on September 2, 2009 and ordered maintaining the subsidy and issuing bills according to the old tariff. This case is still under consideration in the court, but Assistant Manager (operations), Tanlianwala Subdivision and officials of other subdivisions of Fesco cut electricity supply to the tube wells in their respective areas, he said.
On this, he added, KBP president and others have staged a demonstration and called for immediate restoration of electricity to the agricultural tube wells, and appealed Chief Justice, Lahore High Court to take action against this illegal act of Fesco officials. KBP also warned that they would stage a sit-in outside Punjab Assembly if electricity connections were not restored within two days.
