The Lahore High Court (LHC) acting as election tribunal here on Friday imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on a petitioner Rana Muhammad Tariq for not producing evidence in an election petition against provincial minister for food Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor. On previous hearing, the tribunal had directed the petitioner a defeated candidate of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) from PP-161, Lahore, to produce witnesses before a local commission for recording of their statements but he failed to do so.
Petitioner Tariq, challenged the F.A, B.A and M.A degrees possessed by Pakistan Muslim League -Nawaz (PML-N) Ghafoor and sought his disqualification.
