Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) kicked off a life insurance scheme for its beneficiaries from January 1, 2011 under which the beneficiary families would get Rs 100,000 on the death of head of the family, said a spokesman of BISP here on Friday.
In this regard BISP Chief Farzana Raja held a detailed meeting with State Life Insurance Corporation (SLIC) delegation led by Chairman Shahid Siddiqui to finalise the details of life insurance scheme for the BISP beneficiaries, the spokesman said. Raja said that BISP was committed to materialise the dream of Benazir Bhutto for economic empowerment of poor and downtrodden segments of the society. The launch of life insurance scheme will be another tribute to visionary leader, she said.
The SLIC delegation gave a presentation regarding the life insurance plan designed for BISP's registered beneficiaries. The facility would be offered as extension of the services of the BISP to its registered families besides monthly income support being provided to them.
The experts of the SLIC had worked hard to finalise various procedures and modalities of the life insurance plan in short span of time. It is worth mentioning that the premium against the life insurance would be paid by BISP on behalf of its registered beneficiaries. Raja appreciated the efforts of the team of State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan and said that the same excellent service quality was being expected in future as well to provide maximum benefits to beneficiaries. She said that BISP would offer health insurance facility to its beneficiaries soon.
