Pakistan Dairy Association (PDA) has hailed the decision of the Lahore High Court dismissing a petition against packaged milk companies terming it a landmark victory for packaged milk industry. Chairman PDA, Syed Yawar Ali addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club (LPC) here on Friday said that the judge of the LHC Chaudhry Muhammad Tariq dismissed the petition against packaged milk companies, declaring that "the epitome of the whole discussion in that packed milk is good.
According to the reports of various laboratories, nothing injurious to human health has been found in the packaged milk. As a consequence, this writ petition has no force, hence dismissed." The judgement also sheds light on tests conducted on samples of packaged milk by leading local and international laboratories. The details of the test report submitted by Eurofins Global Control Laboratory, a reputable German laboratory, were also provided and categorically gave packaged milk a clean bill of health, stating that the submitted milk samples were fit for human consumption. The samples were also dispatched to four local laboratories that also concluded that the milk contained no such substance that could be termed as being hazardous to human health, Yawar added.
He further said that between the members of PDA, they possessed more than 150 years of experience of operating in the dairy industry. By using state-of-the-art technology and stringent quality checks, the companies ensured that packaged milk was passed through numerous tests before it was processed and packaged for public use.
Replying to various questions on this occasion he said that milk processing companies directly take milk from dairy farmers and then test it on the spot and chill it before sending to factory for processing. He said that the milk collected from farmers was tested on 29 different parameters and ensured that it should be fit for human consumption.
