Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan came into being after rendering numerous sacrifices under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam, but we could not achieve our destiny.
"Today there corruption is rampant in the country, hard earned money of the poor is being looted and even Hujs were not spared," Shahbaz said while addressing a big public meeting after the inaugurating the first mobile health unit of Punjab costing Rs 55 million in flood-devastated Daira Deen Panah village, District Muzaffargarh.
Member National Assembly Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Provincial Minister Ahmed Ali Olakh, former District Nazim Muzaffargarh Sultan Mahmood Hinjra, and others were also present on the occasion.
He said that December 25 reminds us that great leader, under the leadership of whom the movement for a separate homeland was launched. He said that the devastative floods caused widespread destruction from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Sindh. He said that the objective of creation of Pakistan was not to facilitate only the elite and the poor patients would be deprived of even getting medicines.
He said though the floodwater had receded but it left the signs of devastation. He pledged that he would not rest until transforming the devastation into the prosperity of the people. He said that it was not any favour on his behalf but it is right of the people and his duty and if he could not fulfil his duty, he would be answerable to Allah. He said that poverty, bribery and corruption would be eliminated from Pakistan and the country would be transformed in accordance with the ideals of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal.
Shahbaz Sharif said that in the past, machinery worth million of rupees were imported for basic health units and rural health centres but no doctors and technicians were posted for its operation due to which this machinery destroyed. He said that provincial government decided to import mobile health units from abroad and first mobile health unit was being inaugurated in flood affected village Daira Deen Panah today, he added.
