PPP co-chairman and President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday said the PPP does not believe in personal revenge and was taking revenge of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto by changing the system. "We are taking the revenge of Mohtarma's assassination by changing the system.
We do not believe in personal revenge", the President said in a special interview with Radio Pakistan on the eve of the 3rd death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto, also telecast by Pakistan Television on Sunday night.
The President, however, added that as BB was martyred, the investigations in the case were in progress and those involved in this heinous crime would be brought to justice. "The law will take its own course", he added.
President Zardari said that the pain and absence of Benazir Bhutto after her martyrdom was "being felt by all of us", including her children and the people.
The President said he felt the presence of Benazir Bhutto at every moment, and added: "According to our faith, those who are martyred, they are alive".
He said that Pakistan People's Party government is carrying forward the mission and vision of their great leaders--Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto--for a better Pakistan, and added that the main thrust of the vision is to bring a qualitative change in the lives of the downtrodden people.
The President said the government is moving in the right direction in accordance with the vision of the great leaders but it would take time to build a stronger Pakistan.
He said though the development of a country takes decades and years, "we have put the country towards that direction".
About the PPP government's reconciliation policy, the President made it clear that it was the policy of Benazir Bhutto and it would continue to bring economic stability and prosperity in the country.
He said there was strong opposition among different parties in the past, "but our endeavour would continue to reconcile the situation which would ultimately take time".
He said it was the fruit of the reconciliation that the party of Pir Pagara "is in coalition with us", and added that as the country is facing various challenges including economic and the growing population, these could not be handled by any party single-handedly.
The President said that it was Zulfikar Ali Bhutto who gave legal rights to the haris, "and now no one can expel them from any village or location where they are working", and added that they could go to the court if such a situation is created.
He said the haris are the shareholders in the agriculture production while there is no share in any other business to the labourers.
He said Rs 20 billion has been injected into the rural economy following the enhancement of the prices of agri-products.
The President said in accordance with the vision of Benazir Bhutto, the government has taken a number of steps for emancipation of women.
He said he would also launch Benazir Mobile phone banking under Benazir Income Support Programme at Naudero. It will help document the economy and to provide facility to women to call their relatives for help in time of need.
The President said that now the general public is well aware of politics and they know the drawing-room politicians and the political actors.
