Businessmen Panel (BP) of Tariq Sayeed grabbed another seat by winning an election for vice president held on December 29 to take its vice president's seats to 7. BP's Akbar Khan got 6 vote to win vice president from Khyber Pukhtunkhawa and his rival Faisal Khan of Businessmen Forum (BF) of Senator Ilyas Bilour got four votes.
The election for vice president seat from Balochistan was put on hold as per Balochistan High Court (BHC) decision of giving Makran chamber membership and right to vote in the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) elections 2010.
BHC had ordered FPCCI to grant Makran Chamber a membershipand right to vote and in the light of its decision FPCCI deferred the election of vice president from Balochistan for 10 days. BP's vice president's win from Khyber Pukhtunkhawa consolidated BP's position to secure around 98percent. It has overwhelming majority in fifth elections in a row making itself more powerful group in business community elections.
The newly elected 226 member general body of FPCCI showed complete confidence in its leadership Tariq Sayeed, Iftikhar Ali Malik, Tanvir Shaikh, Ibrahim Panwala, SM Munir, Sultan Chawla and others. Later addressing the general body meeting Tariq Sayeed thanked business community for trusting BP for representing it at a key forum of FPCCI.
He said the newly elected members of the general body should work incomplete harmony with the central leadership of group to make BP even more popular and continue it wining FPCCI elections in the future with more majorities. He asked general body members to work hard in their respective areas o highlight the problems of their brethren businessmen and propose their solution.
Tariq Sayeed also offered BF group to join hands with BP to make FPCCI even more vibrant forum to represent business community at the government and non-government level. Iftikhar Ali Malik said BP's historic win over its rival group clearly indicates its popularity in business community of the country. He said BP will leave no stone unturned to make FPCCI a vibrantinstitution to guide the government in policy making and at the same time highlight business community problems to ultimate take them to solution.
Iftikhar Ali Malik said FPCCI will play a vibrant role under newly elected president Senator Haji Ghulam Ali and his team. Malik claimed that BP will also win a vice president seat from Balochistan to set a new record of its win.
