Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Khurshid Shah on Thursday said the government has no plan to bring any bill in the National Assembly to amend the anti-blasphemy law. Speaking at a press conference at Sindh PPP Media Cell here, the minister appealed to the religious parties to withdraw their strike call given for Friday.
He clarified that the government has not brought any such bill and even there is not any such proposal to change the anti-blasphemy law. "When the government is not going to amend the anti-blasphemy law, there is no reason for strike call," he added. He disowned the bill brought by Sherry Rehman saying it is a private member bill and has nothing to do with the government.
He said it is not the party policy to bring any such bill in the National Assembly. "Any such bill by any member would be his or her individual step as it is not the party policy," he said. He said the government is committed to providing protection to all the minorities living in the country.
