At least 748 people including 447 activists of political, religious and other parties were killed in target killing in Karachi during the year 2010. According to the statistics of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) 1981 people were killed in various violent incidents in Karachi during the year 2010 which includes 1726 men, 177 women and 78 children.
The total number of target killings in 2010 were 748 among them 447 were the activists of different parties and banned organisations which include 190 political workers, 22 activists of banned organizations, 15 workers of religious parties, 10 activists of nationalist parties, 23 in sectarian killings and 187 in ethnic killings. However, the non-political killings were 301 among the total during 2010. While in comparison the target killings in 2009 were 272.
