Ineffective power plants brought power generation down unexpectedly, putting Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) into an emergency-like situation. A high level meeting was held under the chairmanship of MD Pepco, Rasul Khan Mahsud at Wapda House to review the situation arising due to dense fog conditions prevailing in the country, informed Pepco spokesman.
During the meeting, Mahsud was informed that Engro Thermal power plant, Liberty Power Plant and a few machines of Guddu power plant have been affected, resulting in unexpected reduction in power generation. The MD contacted the aforementioned companies to apprise himself of the situation. He was informed that the situation is likely to improve and the loss in reduction is to be restored on Thursday night.
The spokesman said that MD Pepco is monitoring the situation closely and has deputed DG (EM&C) to update him regularly about the situation. He has also directed GM Thermal to remain in touch with the management of thermal power plants and remove any bottlenecks to ensure that the plants run efficiently and without any interruption. The meeting thanked the consumers for their co-operation and regretted the inconvenience caused to them.
