Punjab Zakat and Ushr Minister Malik Nadeem Kamran has said that fruit and vegetable and grain markets are being shifted gradually outside the cities throughout the province so that the traffic flow could be improved and pollution free atmosphere could be provided to the citizens.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting regarding shifting of fruit and vegetable and grain markets of Sahiwal outside the city, disclosed an official here on Friday. Commissioner Sahiwal Tariq Mehmood Khan, District Co-ordination Officer Muhammad Khan Khichi, Secretary Agriculture Arif Nadeem as well as a large number of representatives of Anjuman-e-Artian Ghalla and Fruit and Vegetable Markets of Sahiwal attended the meeting.
Malik Nadeem Kamran said shifting of markets outside the cities is need of the hour. He said new markets will be set up according to the international standard and modern facilities will be provided there to the middlemen and the people relating to this business.
Representatives of Anjuman-e-Artian informed the Minister about their reservations regarding the place of shifting of Ghalla Mandi outside the city, upon which the Minister assured removal of their reservations in the next meeting. Meanwhile, the Minister presided over a meeting held in connection with reimbursement of salaries to the employees of Zakat department. Secretary Zakat and Ushr Karim Bakhsh Abid, Administrator Zakat Punjab Muhammad Yousuf Butt as well as concerned officers were also present.
The Minister said the matters regarding reimbursement of salaries to the employees of Zakat department has been settled in consultation with the Punjab Finance Department and they will be paid their salaries stopped for the last three months up to January 12. "Cheques for the salaries of employees of Zakat department will be issued on January 8. Special permission with regard to payment of salaries to the employees has been taken from the finance department," he added.
