Most hotels in Doha are packed full with the Asian Cup set to kick-off in front of what organisers hope will be bumper crowds - and prove to the doubters they have what it takes to host the World Cup. "We have only a few rooms left," The Peninsula newspaper on Friday quoted an official from a budget hotel as saying.
All budget hotels were expected to be full by the time the tournament kicks off later Friday, the newspaper said, while most other hotels also reported full occupancy. Saudi nationals were believed to be among the biggest group of fans, the report said. Hosts Qatar face Uzbekistan in the tournament opener.
