The Turkish initiative of making investment would give strong impetus to reform the urban transport sector of Lahore. Turkey will provide training to the human resource belonging to LTC, TEPA, LDA, PND and other relevant departments of Government of Punjab.
State of the art infrastructure will be provided under Bus Rapid Transit Project wherein dedicated lanes will be constructed to cater to the speedy buses of Lahore. The initiative will be taken to reform the system of the traffic of Lahore while utilising (the pattern of) Istanbul Traffic System.
This was stated by Chairman Lahore Transport Company and adviser to Chief Minister, Khawaja Ahmed Hassan while talking to Turkish delegations, here on Thursday. Government representatives and CEOs of various Turkish companies participated in the meeting.
Chairman LTC said that provision of state of the art transport-related infrastructure is the top priority of 'Urban Transport Strategy'. He said that eleven points have been identified where bus terminals and bus depots will be established in the city. He added that a technical adviser for the execution of Bus Rapid Transit Project is being appointed.
He informed that members of the delegation held detailed meetings with the officers of LTC, LDA, TEPA and Urban Transport Unit and devised a plan of action for making investment in Bus Rapid Transit System and other Projects. He said that in addition to making investment in the transport sector, Turkey will provide technical expertise in traffic management and other transport related sector. He assured that there will be no compromise on quality and sustainability of Bus Rapid Transit Project.
Hassan said that keen interest of Turkish Public and private sector in making investment is commendable. He said that Turkish investment in Pakistan would strengthen relations between the two countries. He also said that experts and investors of Turkey have reposed full confidence in the Leadership of Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif.
LTC Director Mohsin Lateef, Maher Ishtiaq MPA, Secretary Transport Caption Muhammad Yousuf (Retd), SSP Traffic Syed Ahmed Mubeen and LTC CEO J.I.KIM, G.M Operations Asad Gillani, G.M Enforcement Fawad Qureshi, G.M Finance Adnan Mudasser and officers of various departments were also present in the meeting.
