DCO Karachi Muhammed Hussain Syed has issued orders for immediate release of Rs 22.5 million for Karachi Medical & Dental College (KMDC) and Rs 4 million for Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases (KIHD) for the repairing of angiography machine. He issued the orders of funds release during a visit to City District Government Karachi's (CDGK) KIHD here on Thursday.
DCO Karachi, Mohammad Hussain Syed told Business Recorder that he has ordered the immediate payment of Rs 22.5 million to KMDC for maintenance and other requirements and Rs 4 million to KIHD for the repairing of angiography machine. The funds for the release of salaries of the employees at KIHD have been released however, various employees of the institute have already received their salaries, he added.
He said the issue of unavailability of medicines at KIHD and the delay in salaries of the staff was due to financial crisis. The number of patients at KIHD is increasing regularly while city government is trying its best to solve the problems of its medical institutes despite shortage of resources, he added.
DCO said the City District Government Karachi's (CDGK) has taken immediate measures to ensure the availability of medicines at KIHD and would completely resolve the problem in next 15 days. The procedure of purchasing medicines for KIHD would also be changed soon and hospital administration would have the authority to purchase the required medicines for the hospital.
